Kissable Lips

I think we can safely say that the winter is now upon us. Winter is actually my favourite time of the year-I love being able to wrap up in chunky knits, hats, gloves scarves-the works!

One thing I do dislike about the colder weather is what it does to my skin, and in particular my lips. Every winter I  battle tirelessly with chapped sore lips and I'm determined this year to keep them moisturised and kissable!

So off I skipped to Boots to see what they had on offer and I am very happy with both my purchases, which are:

Vaseline Lip Therapy with Cocoa Butter

This smells AMAZING - I absolutely adore putting it on my lips! I don't know whether it's just the one that I bought, or if they are all like this, but the consistency seems a bit thicker therefore it's not a greasy (one thing I find annoying about the other Vaseline) - all in all a big thumbs up from me!

The second product I picked up was Carmex Strawberry Lip Balm.

I never really used Carmex before but I've heard so many good things about it I thought why not. I love this, and again, the smell is just gorgeous and I find my self constantly licking it off my lips - probably not the best way to create kissable lips really, but ah well.

FYI - Boots have 3 for 2 on all their lip care products at the moment!

What lip care products do you recommend for bootiful, kissable lips -MWAH!

Weekend 007

Friday: Spent the night in catching up on the latest season of Gossip Girl/ Brothers and Sisters and One Tree Hill whilst the BF went out for a few drinkies.

Saturday: The BF has to work this weekend (this has never happened before) so I head on down the parents house for some company. To celebrate my little bro’s 13th birthday tomorrow, me, my dad, him and 2 of his friends head out to ‘Spooky World’ – we went last year and I can honestly say I cried in some parts I was so scared. This year, they had made it better, but we were expecting some things so weren’t as scared, but still scared enough to scream at my Dad when he ran away from me in the haunted house! If you live up North, I would definitely recommend you take a visit if you can.

Sunday: Today it was the lil bro’s birthday – he’s only 13 bless him! He was rather spoilt and got a laptop as his main present (shocking what kids want at 13 these days) so we spent most of the day setting it up and playing on it! As his choice of birthday meal, we had Chinese takeaway for din dins which was very scrummy! The I headed home to curl up with a glass of wine and the bf for an evening of tv.

Weekend 006

Friday: Had a very busy day in the office so welcomed the chance to have the evening out with a lovely friend Laura so off to the pub we skipped for a few quick ones.

Saturday: Unfortunately I had to work this morning-I was giving a presentation to some girl guides leaders on promoting safe use of the internet (exciting huh?). Came home at 12:30pm to find the bf still asleep (I think he's getting a little old for late nights out) so curled up and had a nap myself! I then got myself up and got ready to head out for a yummy Chinese to celebrate my Daddy's 50th (he's had a prolonged birthday). Back home to watch tonight's X factor-so glad it's now back, means Christmas is getting close.

Sunday: I'm sure you all know me by now and know that Sunday is my day of rest. I got up early for a Sunday to watch the race (F1) and then went about my usual house chores of washing etc. Once complete, I headed round to the in-laws to see the 2 new additions to the family (in the shape of 2 corgi doggies) then back home to the sofa to curl up with dinner and X factor results!

Shopping at MAC

So last week, we saw the release of the new collection from MAC and after having my reader full of posts about it, I thought it only right to pop on over and have a nosey for myself.

There were lots that I thought I wanted, but I'm quite funny about buying make-up online-unless I've seen it in real life, I'm a little dubious about online swatches, so I was well behaved and only treated myself to 3 things, and only one of them from the new Venomous Villains collection.

I got a lipglass from the Cruella collection in 'Devilishly Stylish' - I'm not a lipstick person *gasp*, my lips are always so dry, lipstick just looks silly on me, so I use a lot of lipgloss and after seeing lots of swatches of this on blogs, I decided it was a gorgeous nude colour and it was definitely for me.

If I'm honest, I'm not that keen on the packaging-it looks like I've raided a little girls make up bag, but the product is lovely enough so it doesn't really matter.

Second thing I purchased was Ladyblush Blushcreme. I have wanted a cream blusher for quite some time now and really want to try the Illamasqua cream blushers, but whilst I was on MAC, I decided to give one a try.

It's a lovely cool pink toned blush and I have been applying it with my sonia kashuk flat top brush-any other recommendations on brushed to use with a cream blusher??

And the final product-as I said above, my lips don't take well to lipstick so I was unable to get in on the whole Lady Gaga/Cindy Lauper craze a few months back, well that was until now! MAC have now brought out these 2 lipsticks, in lipglass form-yey for me! I couldn't resist picking up the Lady Gaga lipglass-it's a gorgeous bright bubblegum pink (a little too pink for my liking, but once blended in on my lips-I love it)!

May have to get myself a back up of this :-)

L-R: Ladyblush, Lady Gaga Lipglass, Devilishly Stylish Lipglass

Did you buy anything from the VV collection that you'd recommend? I really want to try the beauty powders but I've never used one before so really need to try it out before I part with my dosh!

As some of you will know, it was my Nannie's funeral last week and I was asked to give a reading.

I came across this poem and thought I'd share it with you all-I think it really has some truth and has helped me put things in to perspective somewhat  - I hope you like.

She Is Gone (He Is Gone)
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Weekend 005

Friday: So I spent my Friday with my family celebrating the life of my Nannie-it was a lovely day and I think we all did Nannie very proud! After the funeral, following tradition, me, the parents and my lillte bro headed to IKEA (I know this sounds weird after a funeral but after every visit to Nannie we ALWAYS went to IKEA on the way home and we thought it would be weird not to-strange family huh?). I was on the lookout for a cheap wradrobe to go in my dressing room and boy did I get one-after picking my flat pack up, we headed to the bargain corner for a mooch and saw the same one, ex display, at 40% off-obviously I bought that one and spent the car ride home squished up against the window so we could fit the ready built wardrobe in the car.

Saturday: Started with a well deserved lie-in, nip to the shops then out for Oxjam in Chester. For those that aren’t aware, Oxjam is a music event (however small or big you want) in aid of Oxfam-cool play on words there I think! Anyway, my friend Laura convinced me to volunteer at the event and although I was a little dubious as to what we may have to do-I LOVED it! I was in my element J
We spent most of the evening on the door of the event, taking in tickets and checking ID to hand out wristbands-it was my time to shine with my organisational skills and that I did, the guy organising was so impressed, that he asked if we’d volunteer at some of their fashion shows! We’re now hoping to organise one of our own! Following the event we headed in to Chester and spent the rest of the evening dancing our little tootsies off before rolling home at ridiculous o’clock!

Sunday: Was spent like it should be-in my jammies ALL day long! Really not much else I can say about Sunday hehe!

What did you get up to on the weekend?
