iPhone apps

After reading Daisy's post on her current favourite iPhone app's of the moment, I thought I'd follow suit and do one of my own (I really enjoyed reading her post, so thought others may be just as nosey as I am hehe)!

Here are my top 5 (minus facebook and twitter - I think that's a given)!

Mobile RSS (free): This is a google reader app which links up all your blogs to read in full on the go! The only thing I find a little annoying is that I can't comment from it, but it's pretty damn good other than that!

Pingchat (free): Basically, this is just a text app, and if I'm totally honest, I was rather reluctant to get an app like this - I have unlimited text's in my contract so I didn't see the point - UNTIL I realised that I could start chatting away with my friend in Oz, free of charge! I love it! We now chat on a daily basis and I just love that!

Words free (free): So this is pretty much scrabble which you can play with anyone! You just search for a username and initiate a game! You will be notified when you opponent has made their move and it's time for you to make yours! As silly as this sounds, I'm learning a lot from it-I've been playing non-stop all week with a best friend and I've learnt all sorts of new words (English is my second language so this is just fab for me)!

Allrecipies (free): The bf is always asking me 'what do you want for dinner' and most the time, my reply is, I don't know - well, this app is just brilliant for times like these! It's got a spinner on it, so, you just spin away and it comes up with lots of different recipe options. Or, you can chose your dish type (i.e. starter, main, stew etc), then the main ingredient and then ready in and it just gives out lots of recipe options! FAB!!

Flixster (free): This app is fantastic - there's so much you can do on it. You can check what's out in the box office and watch the trailers. Using your location, you can check what's on in your nearest cinema and see timings etc. You can see what's coming out and what's out on DVD! I use this quite a lot, and it's fantastic for places that you've not been to before because it can basically help you locate the nearest cinema!

What are your favourite app's - I'd love some recommendations!

Weekend 021

Friday: This week has been exhausting for me - I haven't really done too much (except see Westlife on Wednesday) but I just haven't been able to catch up on my lost sleep from last weekend's shenanigans! So tonight, I enjoyed a lovely home cooked meal of chicken kiev and patatas bravas and a few glasses of wine before heading off for an early night!

Saturday: Today started early for me - I was up at 6 to watch the first qualifying session of the Grand Prix! I enjoy F1 so much - definitely a sport that me and the bf enjoy watching together! Once finished, I sneaked back to bed for a couple of hours! Once up (again) I enjoyed a lazy day hanging around the house and eating home-made tea-cakes (the bf is an amazing cook)! The weather was just wonderful today so we had all the doors and window's open in the house - I absolutely love having fresh air blowing through the house - spring is definitely on its way!

Sunday: Another early start this morning for race day - today was difficult with losing the hour, I really felt the early morning! Once finished, we decided that, rather than waste the day, to head out and that we did! So off we went to the Trafford Centre for a mooch - I didn't really buy anything, but I did pick up Mac's Creme Cup lipstick with my back-to-mac on the recommendation of Alex (and I love it)! Tonight, we've been for a family meal for my Grandpa's birthday and now I'm settled down with a cuppa watching the 'Dancing on Ice' final - perfect end to a lovely weekend!

Hope you've all had fun sweeties! X

Reliving my youth

So I spent last night reliving my youth at (wait for it)...a Westlife concert! If you're not a fan - I would suggest you stop reading now as there will be pictures!

I know that probably 99% of you are probably thinking 'how sad is she' and yes, I agree, they aren't to everyone taste, but I absolutely love them! I have been a fan since day 1 at the lovely young age of 12 and I just haven't grown out of the phase!

I have been to every single arena tour without fail since they started touring and they always amaze me at how much I enjoy them - and last night was no exception!

I went with my little brother (bless him) and 2 very good friends (17/23yrs) - this will be our 4 yr going together and every year we say - 'right, I think this year should be our last', but we come out so excited by the whole things that we couldn't imagine not going again!

We had the best seat's we've ever had - the boy's came out above the crowd and stopped perfectly just before us so we had a perfect view!

Anyway, I'll stop boring you now and leave you with a few pics :-)

p.s. Mark's wave at about 1m 10s is to me :-)

Weekend 020

Friday: As usual, I finished work early (I absolutely love flexi time, I hardly ever work later than 3 on a Friday) and headed off to the train station to make the, what turned out to be a very long journey down to Warwickshire. My journey began well - I had a chance meeting with the lovely Alexandra - it was so nice to meet her in real life after speaking for so long on Twitter - I'd love to meet more of the lovely people I speak to everyday!
But, once I get to Birmingham, it all went downhill! My connecting train was delayed, then when it finally arrived, we made it to Leamington Spa before being told that the train would terminate there due to trespassers on the track! So, I was stranded in Leamington and my poor friends had to drive 40 minutes in the wrong direction to come and rescue me! Finally, I arrived at my destination and was very much ready for a weekend of fun with my best friends!

Saturday: The morning included a lovely lie-in (even thought I wasn't asleep, it was just nice to lie-in),  then a girly chin-wag over a cuppa before getting ready and heading in to Banbury for a spot of lunch and shopping! We then picked up the rest of the group before heading to the pub to watch the rugby! Then it was 'games night' & take-away! We really did have so much fun, and shockingly, me & my friend Gemma who ended up pairing up for Mr & Mrs won the bloody game - we were the only none couple there hehe!

Sunday: Today was definitely a hangover day and was filled with lots of pig out food! We had a lovely pub lunch and then it was time for me to get on my train and choo choo home! Luckily, the journey was much, much better than it was on Friday - I really don't think I'd of been able to cope with a hangover!

I really enjoyed my weekend - I absolutely LOVE spending time with my friends - it was exactly what I needed after the few weeks I've had!

I hope you all had a fab weekend too!

Put a spring in your spring! Tell us, how would you lighten up your life? #AussieLight

“Put a spring in your spring! Tell us, how would you lighten up your life? #AussieLight”

I have wanted to be an Aussie Angel for ages now – it seems like so much fun and I’d love to be a part of a group with so many wonderful like minded people! I think now would be my perfect time
as I could be a real life Aussie Angel this Summer with a trip planned to visit the magical place that is Australia!

When I saw that they have a competition running offering the chance for 10 very lucky lovelies to become an Aussie Angel, I had to get in on the action and put in an entry.

So, the question was: Put a spring in your spring! Tell us, how would you lighten up your life? #AussieLight and here is my answer!

Planning a trip to Sydney to visit one of my best friends for August this year, it has made me want to pamper myself in preparation for a trip of a lifetime!

I am a natural blonde, but a real dirty blonde which I don’t think will fit in well on Manly beachJ!

Doesn't this just look AMAZING!

I have mentioned before, I am really lazy when it comes to dying my hair (slaps wrist-naughty naughty) and usually leave it till my roots are half way down my head (hangs head in shame)! BUT, my holiday to Oz is really giving me the motivation to keep my hair looking lusciously light and in brilliant condition!

Luckily I have a brilliant friend who is doing hairdressing at college at the moment therefore I have a colourist on hand (who also does it for free-always a bonus) so I have no excuse!

I have taken advantage of the special offer in boots and stocked up on the Aussie Colour Mate products and indulging in hair care sessions with the 3 minute miracle reconstructure to help me in my quest for luscious locks!

A little Minx

So I wanted to post something today but couldn't think what to post (I really don't have much interesting stuff happening in my life right now-boo hoo) so I thought I'd upload a few pics of my kitty cat!

Her name is Minx and she most certainly lives up to her name on occasions - but in actual fact, she should have been called sleepy because that is ALL she does - I leave her here in the mornings when I go to work:

And then come home to find her here:

I think cat's really do have a pretty good life - sleep, eat, sleep - I'd give anything for that!

I'll leave you with one last pic - she has a real liking to Primark paper bags - whenever there is one in the house, she will find it and make it her home!

Weekend 019

Friday: So, I finished work early today because I was picking up my little bro and his girlfriend up from school - so cute, they're only 13! It was so sweet - it's the first time we've ever met his girlfriend and bless her, she was so embarrassed and hardly said a word! I took them home and left them playing COD whilst I cooked dinner for them both!

Saturday: Today actually turned out to be a pretty good day - today was my brother's anniversary (I've written about it here) and as I didn't want to stay around the house doing nothing thinking about it, me and the bf headed off to Cadbury's world - I've never been before and had a fab day eating lots and lots of samples! We then stopped at TGI Friday's for a big dinner and we both stuffed ourselves (fatties hehe)! All in all, today was a pretty good day.

Sunday: I have spent today like most Sunday's, plodding around my house cleaning and making the most of the sunny weather and getting lots of washing done! I love days like this! The bf has been baking too - the house smells of freshly baked bread - it's amazing!

Well I hope you've all had a lovely weekend - the dreaded Monday approaches so I hope you all enjoy what's left of the weekend!

A bit of a rant...

So, I apologise now because this post is going to be a bit of a rant - about Dorothy Perkins.

I purchased a pair of jeans from there about a month a go - these to be exact and I'm far from happy with them!

Over the years I have purchased many a pair of jeans from there and never had any problems with them - until now! And the problem being - colour transfer!

When I first bought the jeans I noticed some transfer, which I put down to the fact that they were brand new so washed them on day one. Since then - on every occasion that I wear them, I have experienced colour transfer on everything that I wear.

These pair of jeans have been wash so many times - pretty much every time I wear them thanks to the fact that everything I wear turns blue, so I would of expected by now that they would be ok to wear, but still no!

The one thing that has really annoyed me - and is going to cost me a fortune to try and sort out, are my uggs. The colour transfer has absolutely ruined!

I contacted Dorothy Perkins about this and their response was pretty much 'Unfortunately, our labelling states that denim washes are prone to colour transfer' - Yes I agree, when new, I would expect some colour transfer, but after a months wear and washing, I would honestly of thought by now there would be no colour transfer. I have the same pair which I have never had this problem with, and other jeans from DP's that this has never happened.

They also said that their labeling does not recommend to wear them with light coloured clothing - hmmmmmmm, after looking at their website and seeing that every pair of jeans is advertised with a light coloured top, how can they say not to wear them with one - false advertising?!? Misleading customers - I think so!

If I'm totally honest, I'm really disappointed with the response from Dorothy Perkins - I really would have expected a bit more compassion and better customer service!

Have you ever had any problems with colour transfer? Dorothy Perkins? I can honestly say that I won't be purchasing jeans from here ever again, and if I'm totally honest, I'm so disappointed with the whole service that I think I'll be very reluctant to shop in there for anything!

Weekend 018

Well, first of all - Hello there to all my lovely new followers *waves frantically* - very lovely of you all to take the time to follow my little blog of ramblings!

Hasn't the weather been lovely this weekend - not exactly warm, but just having the sun out changes everything I think!

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend - mine's been a bit blah to be honest but I thought I'd still do my weekend post (I didn't do one last weekend as I literally did nothing so there was nothing to write)!

Friday: For reason's expalined here, I haven't been sleeping too well over the last week or so, and as I had nothing planned for tonight, I didn't to take the opportunity and get and early night so off I trotted to bed at 9pm - that's right, I'm so cool!

Saturday: One of my closest friends moved to London 3 weeks ago but came home this weekend for her Nan's birthday, so we took the opportunity to head out for breakfast and have a good old fashioned catch up! Breakfast for me (if you're wondering), consisted of Egg's Benedict - I have never had this before but it was delicious! The afternoon was a bit blah, and if you follow me on twitter, you will have seen me tweet that I'd had a bit of a breakdown - I realised that I have lost my driver's licence *sob* and it was just the last straw which broke me and I had a rather long sob - the poor bf didn't have a clue what was going on with his nutter girlfriend. Anyway, after pulling myself together, and re-doing my make-up, I headed out to my cousin's 21st birthday party!

Sunday: I really want to wake up and start this day all over again! Today, I was SUPPOSED to be going to the National Wedding Show in Birmingham with one of my besties, who will be getting married in the new year. I decided to travel my train as it was much cheaper than driving, and up I got at 6:45am this morning, got ready and headed off on the 40min drive to the train station. After purchasing my tickets (from the self serve machine) and feeling pretty smug with myself that I was so organised that I had made it with enough time to indulge in a morning cuppa, I waited patiently for my train. When it was a few mins delayed and nothing was on the screen I headed on in to ask the ticket man who informed me that all trains within Wales were on strike! As you can imagine, another breakdown was close, but I though I'd spare the poor train man. Anyway, after checking times from Chester, and realising I wouldn't make an early enough train to get me to the NEC before lunch, I decided to head home! So, I have spent the rest of today pretty much sulking, wrapped up in a blanket and indulging in some comfort food.

I hope you've all had a much better weekend than me and have a fab week to come!

A bit of a theme

In a bid to cheer myself up, I thought what better way to do it than a bit of retail therapy.

So off I trotted to New Look to have a look at all the beautiful blouses that they currently have instore - I love this trend and there are some really pretty girly blouses in!

I settled on these two - and yes, they are very similar in style to each other, but I just loved them!

This was £19.99 and I think it will be just perfect for spring - a little bit of colour to brighten the day! (Sorry, I can't see this on the website but they had loads in store when I picked mine up).

This top was £19.99 too and I love the zip detail on the back. Both the tops are quite short at the front but dip down at the back.

I absolutely adore prints like these and will definitely be purchasing some more I'm sure!

What have you been buying recently?
