Handbag help!

For my birthday last month I decided to treat myself to a new handbag with some of the money I received and after much deliberation which drove the bf insane, this is the one I went for form Aldo:

I always tend to go for a light coloured handbag for the summer months - I don't feel quite right with a dark coloured bag when it's summer - although that wouldn't make much difference at the moment with the rubbish weather we've been having!

I love this bag-it's big enough to hold all of my *necessary* items that I feel the need to carry around with me (including a tape measure-you just never know)! But I need some help pelase! This bag is described on the website as being a synthetic material - the only way I can describe it is being a very soft leather type material and because of this I get awful dye transfer where the bag has rubbed against my jeans.

Looks rubbish right! Well, a friend at work very kindly gave me a suede rubber which she had no use for to try out and I have used this a few times and it does make a hell of a difference as you can see below but there is still some dye transfer on the bag - it doesn't get rid of it all!

Have you ever had this problem before? Any suggestions on anything I can use to get rid of it?

Granted, I should of used some kind of protection spray when I first bought the bag, but I didn't (I have learnt my lesson) but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Surf, baby!

Last week I had a very welcome surprise when I found out that I won the lovely Ashlie's giveaway over on Diamonds & Pearls!

And this was the lovely prize: Mac's Surf, Baby! Cheek Powder in My Paradise!

This is a beautiful colour for the summer - a perfect peachy blush with gold overspray, which I think would look amazing on golden tanned skin!

FYI: The gold overspray is quite thick, so will last a while (hopefully)!

I'll be completely honest, I haven't swatched it yet - I really don't want to ruin the pretty gold flower! I know, I know, pretty sad but what can I say, I like pretty things!

Did you get anything from the Surf, Baby! collection? Any tips on how to apply this gorgeous product?

Weekend 028

Friday: This evening was spent mainly on the M6 - I honestly believe that this road is the bane of most people's lives who travel, it is always bloody busy, regardless of time of day! Anyway, finally got to my destination to be greeted by chinese food so ended pretty well!

Saturday: This morning was spent shopping for birthday presents - I love shopping for presents, just as much as receiving them and me and my friend bought some fantastic presents! We were so chuffed that we treated ourselves to a little pressie of our own! In the afternoon, we drove on over to Bristol to join the rest of our Uni group for an evening of food, drink and singstar - PERFECT! I am an awful singer, but give me a singstar mike and I am Leona Lewis!

Sunday: I could actually include more singstar as we didn't actually head to bed until around 3am (poor neighbours). Surprisingly, I woke up feeling pretty fresh this morning - couldn't say that for a lot in our group! Once we all looked somewhat presentable, we headed on in to Cabbot Circus for a spot of lunch at La Tasca - we used my taste card and got a whopping 50% off the bill which was amazing! Best £2 I've ever spent getting that card I think - I would definitely recommend you check it out on ebay! Following lunch I had the long drive back home to sunny North Wales to see my Daddy, it was Fathers Day after all, then home for bed! I really am getting too old for weekends of drinking and late nights, I can't cope!

Lots & lots of food was ordered!!

Hope you all had a fab weekend too!!

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman:Make up Brushes

I am sure you have all heard about the new make-up brushes that have been released by Real Techniques and created by Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo!

Well, as soon as I saw Sam talk about these brushes in a video, I was pretty damn sure I wanted them - a beauty blogger creating make-up brushes meant to me, that they were going to be what we've all wanted in brushes, and boy she didn't disappoint!

This is what the website says about the line:

Designed with pro makeup artist Samantha Chapman, Real Techniques brushes combine high-tech materials with innovative design to make creating a pixel-perfect look easier than ever:
  • Taklon bristles are ultra plush and smoother than the hair you'll find in other brushes. Since taklon is synthetic, it's 100% cruelty-free. The soft fibers help create a flawless, high-definition finish in any type of light – from sunlight to harsh indoor lighting.
  • The color-coded system corresponds to the key steps of makeup application so you can create a flawless baseenhanced eyes, and the perfect finish like a pro.
  • Each brush head is hand-cut to the perfect shape, allowing for precise application from dense coverage to a soft, delicate finish.
  • The collection is suitable for a wide range of products and every makeup need – from powders, creams, and liquids to mineral makeup, highlighter, and shimmer.
  • Brush names on the handles make for easy reference when creating your favorite look.

With some of my birthday money back in May, I decided to treat myself to the Core Collection and thought I'd share my thoughts with you all after using them pretty much non-stop over the last month!

♥ Contour brush: This is just the perfect size! I am not very big on contouring etc, I've never really done it other than on the odd night out, but I find this brush is just perfect for popping highlighter along the top of the cheekbone and under the eyebrow!

♥ Pointed foundation brush - this is perfect for getting in the creases when applying foundation. I usually use a stippling brush or my fingers when applying foundation - it's what works for me! I've never really tried using a proper foundation brush to be quite honest, but I have used this on nights out when I've wanted my foundation to be flawless to blend in the area's around my nose, mouth and under the eyes and it's just the perfect size!

♥ Detailer brush - again, this is a brilliant small brush! I've used this for when I've applied concealer and I've got niggly little blemishes to hide! This can pick up just enough product for these blemishes and means there is much less blending required!

♥ Buffing brush - I would have to say that this brush is my favourite! I have used this pretty much for everything! For buffing in after I've applied my powder, buffing away after foundation, put on powder, putting on bronzer - it really does work for anything!

Now I will be honest, I did have a slight problem with the buffing brush I originally got - it started to shed slightly and then a huge chunk of bristles came out of it, however I have not heard about anyone else having this problem at all so I think I just got a dud one-I really don't believe it is a reflection on the quality of any of the brushes as all the others are amazing and I've only heard brilliant reviews about them online! Real Techniques have very kindly sent me a replacement and also the Kabuki brush to try too - which I am so excited about!

The kabuki brush looks amaizng! It's a small kabuki brush so will be perfect for travelling and I think best of all, it folds out to give even more coverage!

I would definitely recommend these brushes! I think they are extremely inexpensive, at £18.99 for 4 amazing brushes, MAC should be ashamed of themselves! There are individual brushes available to buy online which start from £6.99, but I think the sets are amazing value for money, and definitely worth it for those who are trying to build up their brush collection or just starting to explore make-up for the first time!

There are so many more that I want to try and I'm pretty sure I will be buying the whole collection over time! Have you tried any of the brushes?

Virtual therapy

Today I am having a very blah day -boohoo! I have carpal tunnel syndrome which was diagnosed whilst I was at uni and if I'm honest, it's not as bad as some people's! It doesn't really bother me that much but every now and then it flares up and leaves me completely useless - today is one of those days! So, as I can't drive or do anything around the house, I figured what better way to cheer myself up than to potter around online and make a virtual wishlist of goodies that I hope to buy this month (fingers crossed)!

Weekend 027

So I haven't done one of these in a few weeks - mainly due to the fact that I have been a little poorly with tonsillitis and therefore haven't done anything at all! Anyway, let's see what I got up to this weekend...

Friday: Tonight was spent making up lots and lots of picnic/bbq food! I am off out tomorrow with the family and the bf is off camping for the weekend so we spent the evening making enough food to feed 5000!!

Saturday: Today was an early morning ready for a day spent with the family! It was my Daddy's 50th birthday last September, and as the lovely daughter I am, I treated him to a gliding experience, something he has wanted to do forever! And today was the day! It was a lovely day, I may have burnt my nose slightly but my Dad had a fab day and my little 13 year old brother even decided to go up!

There goes my little bro

Sunday: I have most definitely made the most of a rest day- a lazy lie-in followed by a day of watching my Dawson's Creek boxset-this reminds me of my Uni days, curled up on the sofa, under the duvet with an abundance of hangover food! I have also spent the day lathering up on aftersun as I am rather pink after yesterday's sun exposure :S

I hope you've all had a fab weekend and enjoyed the gorgeous weather we were lucky to have!

The bristles are really short and condense so makes it absolutely perfect for buffing in - I've been using it with my liquid foundation and find it helps to give a perfect flawless finish.

A new gadget to play with

It was my birthday this month and I don't know about you, but as I get older, I find it harder to try and figure out what wonderful treats to ask for.

Well this year I was very spoilt by my lovely bf who bought be a new camera - the Fujifilm Finepix F500 EXR to be exact and I absolutely love it!

I'll be completely honest - I'm not very technical, and this camera has so many settings that I really don't know where to start - but the bf is helping me and the pictures that I've taken really do look amazing! He bought it ready for my holiday to my Oz this summer (I can't wait) so I have plenty of time to play with it and learn all the fancy settings!

Manufacturer's description:

  • 16MP EXR-CMOS sensor
  • 15x Fujinon Optical Zoom Lens
  • Fujinon 24mm Wide Angle Lens
  • Full 1080p HD movies and images
  • 3.0-inch high res LCD Monitor
  • ISO12800 Sensitivity
  • CMOS Shift Image Stabilisation
  • High-Speed Auto Focus
  • Super Intelligent Flash

I would definitely recommend this camera - it's very reasonably priced for what it offers and really does take amazing pictures (even in the auto mode, which is pretty much all I've used so far)!

p.s. fingers crossed pictures on here will be so much better from now on!
