Weekend #4

I just had to double check which week were in - for some reason I thought it was still at #6 - hasn't January just gone so so slow :(

Anyway, on to my weekend:

Friday: Friday night was a lovely night in just chilling - I really felt like this week has been a long one, even though I was off on Monday due to a migraine attack which really did wipe me out for the week.

Saturday: Today was a day for being a domestic goddess - a think a little less goddess, more domestic lazy bones, but there were chores to be done including emptying my wardrobe of EVERYTHING and only putting the things I ACTUALLY wear back in! It's amazing the amount of stuff I've held on to for years because I wore it once. Felt very good to get rid of stuff, gives me an excuse to go and buy some more clothes! The evening with spent with the OH's family celebrating his Dad's birthday and house warming for his Sister and Brother -in-law. They have an amazing new place which I am so so jealous about :(

Sunday: Today was pampering day! It was long overdue for me to head on over to the friends and get my roots done! It was safe to say that she was truly appalled at the state of my T-section. I love it when my hair has just been coloured, it does make me feel so much better-I shouldn't leave it so long in between colours! I am to be a better.

All in all it's been a pretty chilled out, enjoyable weekend! Hope you've had a lovely weekend too!

Chanel: Soleil Tan De Chanel

Well this has been a long time coming but I have finally managed to get my little mitts on this beauty!

As I'm sure you're aware, this product has been unavailable for some time now - I believe it was due to manufacturing problems with the lids (correct me if I'm wrong) and I have asked at every single Chanel counter I came across always disappointed.

On Monday, I was off work poorly and was doing the obligatory internet window shopping when I happened to check out the Debemham's site and there it was IN STOCK!

Better still - there was 10% off (RX37) and I managed to find a free delivery promotional code (SHD1) making it a total of £26.10.

I picked it up this morning from the post office and it looks and smells amazing (as all Chanel products do)! I can't wait to get using it (even if I am a little scared) and I am sure it'll be featured in an upcoming post no doubt!

Do you have this? What brush do you use?

Weekend #3

This weekend was spent with my most favourite people-my bestest friends from Uni and it was just fab!

Friday: A half day at work (or a 2 hour day in my case) was followed by a panic buying shopping dash for last minute birthday presents, and a few sneaky little treats for me before heading down South to start my weekend off with the girls! Tonight was a quiet one, staying in with home-cooked food and good company, what more could you want to start a weekend off!

Saturday: Another panic shopping trip, yesterday's didn't go so well but today's was perfect, got some lovely presents, perfect for the girls! Then it was off to Bristol to get the weekend started properly! In total, there were 10 of us this weekend, so you can imagine, it was a busy one! The evening was spent at a new restaurant that has opened in Bristol called Zazabazaar-anyone been? It was amazing! It's like a street market inside with different food stations from around the world - it's safe to say, I pigged out big style (why not when it's all you can eat)!

Cooking my yummy carbaonara at the European station!

Making naan bread to order at the Indian station!

One side of the Desert station - amazing!

I would highly recommend the place if you're ever in Bristol - it's supposedly the largest restaurant in Europe, and with 700 sitting at 9pm last night, I can believe it! Zazabazaar was followed by a trip to the casino-my first ever experience which was fun - no money was spent by me, I'm a little too cautious for that, but I enjoyed directing the others hehe!

Sunday: Well, I can honestly say I was still feeling pretty full from last night-the little piggy that I am! So, this morning was spent reminiscing about the night, as you do! Unfortunately my day in Bristol was short lived as it was back in the car to make the journey back home - the long, lonely journey back home! The rest of the day has been spent just lying on the sofa trying to chill out-I can see I will be shattered tomorrow!

I hope you've all had a fab weekend - what did you get up to?

Sirius Skinsonic: Review

You may have seen in my Christmas post that I received the Sirius Skinsonic as one of my lovely gifts. Now, looking at it, it is very similar to the Clarasonic and truth be told, the Clarasonic is what I wanted but being the tight arse that I am, I refused to pay the ££ for something I wasn’t sure I’d actually use, cue the Skinsonic.

I first heard about this after watching one of Elle’svideo’s where she talked about using it as part of her skincare routine and after hearing the cost, I did a bit more investigating.

I have been using this now religiously every night since Christmas day (which is just a little over 3 weeks) and there’s been a lot of chatter on twitter recently about the Clarasonic that I wanted to get this post up as it may be an alternative some of you may consider trying.

Now I’ll be honest, upon asking Mummy for this for Christmas, I did have a few thoughts in mind...
a)      I would get this to see if I actually used it on a daily basis or would it just be a fad?
b)      If I did use it on a daily basis, is it good enough i.e. could I see a difference?
c)       If yes, the plan was to spend the extra and treat myself to the Clarasonic.

Anyway, let’s show you the product in question:

Now, what does the website say...

The Sonic Skincare System vibrates at a sonic frequency of more than 300 motions per second.

Sirius Sonic works with the skin, not against it.

Back and forth oscillating motion effectively cleans, clarifies and stimulates the skin.

Unlike the devices that use rotary technology such as the Revolve by DDF and the Pro-X by Olay, the Sonic Skincare System does not pull and tug on the skin causing irritation, and allows for a much deeper cleansing, exfoliation and penetration of serums and moisturizers.

I do not own the Clarasonic, so I can’t compare the 2 products, but, from what I have read, they sound very similar indeed.

There are a few differences to see from the 2:

© The Clarasonic is charged my mains whereas the Skinsonic is battery operated – may be a pain for some, but doesn’t really bother me.
© The Skinsonic comes with 5 brush heads (Brush Head for Normal Skin, Sensitive Skin, Exfoliation Applicator, Hydration Applicator & a Toning Attachment) whereas the Clarasonic only comes with one brush head.

I think the main difference is price

© Clarasonic (mia) = £120
©  Skinsonic = $68.95 – which is roughly £45 (I’ll be completely honest that I didn’t pay any postage costs – my Nanna lives in Canada part of the year so I ordered it to be delivered there as it’s free and she brought it home for me).

Now as I say, I have been using this religiously every night since Christmas and have really started to notice a difference in the last week. My skin really does seem so much clearer and softer.
You may have heard that there is often a purging phase for your skin and yes, I did got through this a little, but it really wasn’t anything to write home about, a little red patch on my cheek where I suffer any with dry skin, but that soon cleared up and all is back to normal.

I am really impressed with the Skinsonic – as I said, I’ve never tried the Clarasonic, but in all fairness, the Skinsonic has done exactly what I expected it to do and I really don’t feel the need to go and spend the ££ on the Clarasonic after all.

Has anyone else tried the Skinsonic – what were your thoughts?

Weekend #2

Friday: Off I toddled for a much needed nail appointment today - it's bee ages since I had my nails done, so long that I had already taken the clippers to them all as they were just too long (for me anyway)! I decided on 'chocolate fudge' and I love the colour! I did get a bit of nail art on my ring finger-I couldn't resist!
The evening was topped off with chippy dinner - perfect Friday evening!

Saturday: So, as the bf headed off to the NEC for some car show-yeah, wasn't joining him, I decided to spend the morning doing a spot of life laundry! I love getting things in order, sorting out bills etc! After winging on twitter about how cold it looked outside and planning on spending the day in bed, Karleen convinced me to wrap up and head out and that I did! I headed to the beach and it really was a beautiful day! I have lived 2mins from the beach all my life and I do take it for granted, I don't have the same excitement as I know some will have about visiting the beach, but today, I appreciated it, that's for sure! And to top the day off, the parents took pity on me being on my own and treated me to a chinese for dinner - what more could you ask for :)

Sunday: Today me and the bf headed on in to Chester for a spot of retail therapy! It was a bit chilly but it was a lovely day to just mooch around! Unfortunately, I didn't really pick much up, but I',m pretty sure my bank will be happy with that!

I hope you've all had a fantastic weekend - I have a lovely weekend planned for next week, I really hope this week fly's by!

Weekend #1

Last year I did weekend posts, giving you a little insight in my world - I didn't do one every week, but I told myself at the beginning of 2012 that I would make an effort to get one up every week! I was looking back over my blog the other day and I really liked reading my weekend posts and remembering things I got up to during 2011.

So here goes with weekend #1 - unfortunately for you guys, and for me that matter, it was pretty boring, so I apologise and I will try to make them a little more interesting for both of us!

Friday: You will more than likely see a pattern with my Friday's-I finish work early! It's not often that I finish work after 3.30pm, the beauty of working flexi time I suppose! This means home early after the first week back in work, which I'm not going to lie, was a difficult one-I missed my lie-ins so much!

Saturday: Me and the bf decided to have a day at home today - to just chill out and potter around the house relaxing and cleaning as we go! Not very entertaining I'm afraid, but we bought a new hoover this week, and I'm not kidding, we were excited (definitely a sign that I'm getting old I believe)! I also treated myself to a Lush bath with the Christmas pud bath bomb, which left me feeling, well pretty unimpressed-not something I'd be thinking about getting again! The evening was spent spending some quality time catching up with some youtube video's-I have missed my little afternoon catch up time.

Sunday: Well there were plans of getting out of the house and doing something today, but after a lack of sleep (pretty much all week) a migraine was trying it's hardest to come out to play so I've spent pretty much all day today feeling bloody sorry for myself! I think the only thing that has salvaged today was a home-made Nando's (there seemed to be an unhealthy amount of people on my twitter timeline going for Nando's today) and the return of Dancing on Ice - one reality show that I really do enjoy! I am reserving judgement on who I'm liking so far until I've seen all of them skate but I think it's going to be a good year :)

Pretty much sums up theweekend

I hope you've all had a better weekend than mine, I'm sure you have - here's to hoping that my future weekend posts will be much more entertaining!

Faux de Parfum

I am sure you've all heard about the Travalo - a compact perfume atomiser perfect for use on the go. A while back, they were all over the beauty community-with posts & video's about them and I, like many of you I'm sure wanted one but I just never got round to it!

I did post about it not long before Christmas when it was on offer on Amazon at the bargain price of £5 and bought a few, with Christmas presents in mind. I did hope to keep one back for myself, but being the kind person I am, I gave them all away.

So, I was back at square one, wanting one for myself but not really wanting to pay £9.99 so I turned to trusted old Ebay and had a search - I love a good bargain, who doesn't! And there were plenty to choose from!

Looks like a travalo - acts like a travalo

I bought from this UK seller for £3.49 (inc free delivery) and it arrived within a few days - brilliant service. It's the same size as the travalo and holds the same amount of perfume as one too! It works just the same as the travelo; pot the top of your perfume off (to reveal the little white stick-very technical I know) and then pop the bottom of the atomiser on the stick and pump away!

It is currently filled with Marc Jacobs Lola perfume and is ready to travel with me on my daily travels :)

What's in your 'travalo/perfume atomiser'?

Hair Care routine

I've noticed that there's a few haircare routine video's/posts going around at the moment and I wanted to join in and share what I use on my hair!

Now first, what kind of hair do I have - well it's naturally straight/wavy ish - it's more straight than wavy but it has a slight kink to it, something I used to hate about my hair up until recently. It is bleached - I used to leave it absolutely ages before I bothered to go to the hairdressers, but I have a lovely friend who is now a trained hairdresser who does it for me now so I get it done more regularly (it means it's much cheaper and I get to have a natter)! Considering it's bleached, my hair is actually in pretty good condition - I see so many girls with dry bleached hair, but mine has never really suffered from the dyeing!

I am quite lucky with my hair, it takes a long time for it to become greasy which means that I don't have to wash it everyday-I actually only wash my hair about 2-3 times a week (most weeks it's 2, depending on what's going on).

So on to the products I use:

Shampoo & Conditioner

I love this range - when Vo5 re-packaged all their products they were on offer pretty much everywhere and I stocked up - A LOT! I am still shopping my stash (stash was bought in May) but I haven't felt the need to purchase anything different. I love the smell of these products, my bathroom smells gorgeous after I have used them! I have used a few of the different ranges (revive me daily, beyond blonde, gloss me smoothly) and they all leave my hair feeling very soft and smooth.

Vo5 Miracle Concentrate

This really is a miracle product - I couldn't live without it! I know everyone raves about moroccan oil and other such like products, and I can't compare as I've never tried any of these products as I bought this first (being the cheap ass that I am) and fell in love! A few little drops of this smoothed in to  my hair when wet, and it leaves my hair feeling oh so soft (so soft in fact that I feel the need to stroke it all the time)! I'm sure at some point I'll jump on the moroccan oil bandwagon, but for now, this is just perfect my locks!

Since August, I have straightened my hair 3 times - being out in Oz on holiday, I decided that it would be the perfect time to give my hair a bit of a break and let it go 'au naturel' - I figured as I was on holiday and could blend it with all the surfer styles, no-one would mind my messy hair, and I just grew to like it! If I'm honest, I grew to like the amount of time it took me to do my hair - all of about 5 minutes! I now literally towel dry, pop in a few drops of the miracle concentrate, a quick blast with the hair dryer and I'm pretty much done! I don't fully dry my hair with the hair dryer, just the top of the head really, otherwise my hair just looks really flat, does this happen to anyone else?

As my hair is bleached, it is very knotty/ tangly - it's a nightmare to brush so I couldn't be without the tangle teezer in my life!

Towards the end of the day, to give my hair a bit of oomph - there are a few products that I turn to that I've used for years and always go back to Tigi Queen for a Day Thickening spray & Label M Sea Salt Spray:

Head upside down and a spray of either of these and hair is very volumised! I love the smell of both of these!

Now all I need is a product that will help me get long luscious locks - I wish my hair would grow quickly, but alas, I am stuck with slow growth! Any tips or products that have worked wonders on your locks would be very welcome!

Welcome 2012

So 2011 has flown by really, I'm sure we'd all agree on that one - it just seemed to come and go so quickly!

I had high hopes for 2011 - I had a lot of things planned that happened and were just amazing and others that didn't. I don't feel like my life has moved on much from 2010 (although I am ending it in a much happier place), circumstances still seem to be pretty similar, therefore it is my aim in 2012 to make some changes!

Don't get me wrong, 2011 wasn't a bad year, but it wasn't a brilliant year either! I had lots of fun and exciting times, but I would very much like 2012 to be a little more exciting or challenging!

I think my main aim for 2012 will be to take a few more risks - be a bit more spontaneous!

I hope you have all had a fantastic 2011 and I wish you all lots of love and happiness for a fantastic 2012!

What's your new year's resolutions? I'd love to hear what you're planning for 2012!?
