My Thoughts: Origins Day to Night Gift Set

For Christmas, I was very lucky (& very happy) to be gifted with the Origins Day to Night gift set.

The only Origins product that I have in my collection is the GinZing eye cream (which is a firm favourite) so I was very happy to receive this gift set to give some more products a chance.

The gift set consisted of 4 products including the Vitazing moisturiser 30ml, Ginzing eye-cream 15ml (full sized), Drink-up Intensive overnight mask 50ml & High Potency Night-a-mins cream 50ml (full sized).

I realise that the gift-set will no longer be available, but all the products are individually so I thought I'd share my thoughts on each and how they've very quickly become firm favourites of mine.

Vitazing Moisturiser - this was one product I really wanted to try after hearing so much from it. If I'm honest, I don't really notice much colour from it when I apply, but it's a lovely moisturiser to apply before I pop on my make-up for the day. I think it will be lovely in the warmer months.

Ginzing eye-cream - as I said, I already have this in my collection, but I am very much a fan of the tube it comes in (I detest pots that I have to get my fingers in to - why do they do this with products???). I don't think this products gets rid of my dark circles, but it definitely helps to conceal them with the salmony pink tone of the product.

Drink-up Intensive Overnight Mask - this was another product that I really wanted to try and I loved it! I popped it on just before bed and off to the land of nod I went and woke up with my skin feeling very soft and plump. I've only used it twice since getting it (I'm scared of using it all up) but I think I'll start using it twice a week whilst the weather is still a bit colder.

High Potency Night-a-mins - I hadn't really heard much about this product but it just so happened to be in the set but I am really liking it. It has a thick creamy consistency and feels very luxurious on the skin but sinks in really well to the skin. My only complaint about this product is the smell - it has an orangey/zesty scent which I'm not the biggest fan of, but I can live with it!

What are your favourite Origins products? I think I need some more in my collection!

Happiness Jar

I was having my usual peek around pinterest (more of a couple of hours peek-that place is addictive) and have seen quite a few 'Happiness Jar'/'Memory Jar' type images pop up - then, a video from Gemma popped up in my Youtube subscription box about the same type of thing.

Basically, you get a jar, and as the year goes on, you fill it with little memento's from events etc that have made you happy. Then, on New Year's Eve, open the jar and have a good old look back over the year you've just had.

When I first saw this, I did think..."well, there wouldn't be much in my jar after this year", but when I really thought about it, there has been some pretty good times that, at the end of the day, far outweigh any of the bad times.

So, I'm going to start this year as I mean to go on - I don't really do resolutions, but I am going to really try my hardest at having a bloody good and happy year and not let myself get in the way of it!

First things in my jar will be some little memento's from my besties wedding which was on 3rd January - a perfect start to 2013, seeing one of my best and oldest friends be so so happy (and to be able to be such a big part of it from planning to the actual day)!
Wedding casino!

I can't wait to see what else will be in my happiness jar! Will you be doing a Happiness Jar? Do you have anything in it already - I'd love to see.

12 of 2012

Better late than never I suppose...ok, pretty late but hey ho, I wanted to share my favourite 12 of 2012 and to be honest, I found this pretty easy. I don't have a massive collection of make-up/skincare etc so don't have too many products to choose from - when I find a product I like, I rarely stray (I know, not the best idea for a blogger, but I'm a creature of habit)!

So on to the products and (in no particular order)

Number 1: Benefit Porefessional
I only have the mini's of this in my collection (I hoarded quite a few when it was on offer with Company or Glamour) so have yet to have to shell out for a full price version, but I'm in love and will definietly be adding a full sized tube when required. I love the finish this gives me-a very flawless finish which is perfect for any special occasion, and I love mixing it with the Benefit It's Potent eye cream for a quick fix under my eyes (I do this before popping on a trowel full of concealer).

Number 2: Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua
I don't think there's much to say about this foundation-I love everything about it, the finish, the way it goes on the skin and especially the smell - there's just something about Chanel products!
I also want to give an honourable mention to MAC's Face & Body-I adore this product for everyday use, I tend to save the Chanel for special occasions!

Number 3: MUA Heaven & Earth eyeshadow palette
This is my perfect eyeshadow palette-it has just the right mix of light and dark neutrals and well, for £4, what more could you want. I did have the famous Naked palette, but...well, I just didn't like it (shock horror) - this is far more up my street!

Number 4: MAC Painterly paintpot
I rekindled my love for this in 2012-I have the UD Primer Potion but I much prefer the matt base that the painterly paintpot gives.

Number 5: Benefit They're Real mascara
I feel like I'm cheating a little putting this is the mix as I only got it in November but...I LOVE it! I am not a fan of mascara, I just can't use it! I know, I know, how can I not use it - well, because my eyelashes are rubbish! They're just so straight and rubbish (yes, very technical indeed) but, this makes them curl and makes them soooooooo long! Even the hefty price tag does not deter me!
FYI: I saw in my local boots that they did a mini version of this for £9.50 if you wanted to give it a whirl!

Number 6: Benefit Erase Paste
My holy grail under-eye concealer. I have used a few, with dark circles like mine I have tried over the years to find a miracle product, but there is not such thing, but, this comes pretty close! I have found that if I apply with my MAC 224 it blends perfectly and gives a lovely amount of coverage under my eyes. It doesn't last all day, but with the added bonus of porefessional & It's potent, it holds on pretty well!

Number 7: Benefit Pose tint
I like all the Benetints to be honest, but Pose tint is definitely my favourite - again, I only have mini's of this (about 6) but it gives just the perfect flush of oclour for everyday and is very buildable to give a lovely pink pop when you want thaat little more colour. And I love the mini versions - they're so practical to put in your bag or take away (fingers crossed for more minis this year).

Number 8: Revlon Lip butters
I'm not a big fan of lipsticks-they just don't sit right on my lips so these are just perfect! They give just enough colour whilst still being sheer enough not to cling to any dry patches etc. My favourite colour has to be Cotton Candy - a lovely pinky colour.

Number 9: Bioderma Creoline H2o
What would a favourites be without this bad boy! I won't go in to detail, there's no point - an brilliant all round make-up remover! Done!

Number 10: Real Techniques Brushes
A real staple in my day-to-day routine! My absolute favourite is the buffing brush, but all of them to be honest are worth getting!

Number 11: Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser
There's been a few moisturisers over 2012 that I have tried and loved but I ALWAYS come back to this one-it feels so luxurious when applied and really does sort out any dry patches that I have.

Number 12: Stella Perfume
I got this for my birthday in May and have not worn anything else-a classic that I think would suit pretty much anyone. It's not too sweet but not too musky-a perfect in-between!

What have your favourites been? Any of mine your favourite too?

Life lately...

*Happy New Year

Wowzers, I haven't been on here in so long - sorry! Excuses are...generally being busy, enjoying time off work, being poorly blah blah blah!

I hope you all had an absolutely fantastic Christmas and New Year whatever you did to celebrate and have thoroughly enjoyed stuffing your faces full of Christmas food and lots of chocolates (I certainly did)! I spent Christmas feeling very sorry for myself with that awful cold that was going around (it's only just going now). I did head out for NYE with the girls for a chinese, a few cocktails but I was home for 1am and had a lovely night full of laughter.

So, I thought, rather than ramble on I would just do one mega catch-up in pictures to start the new year off with all that I've been up to over the last few weeks since I last posted!

So here's life lately for me:

I got in to the Christmas mood with festive nails, food & decorations

I travelled back to Bristol & celebrated one of my besties wedding reception (the wedding itself was in Barbados)

I've eaten lots of yummy food with scrumptious pancakes* (abra-ca-debora pancakes which were scrummy) - amazing Christmas lunch pud - and THE best chips to date!

Wedding prep for another bestie's wedding (on 3rd Jan) & my dress of choice (love it so much).

Spending lots of time with my little pups

Getting crafty & making my own elbow patches - getting cosy - playing with my Enrapture heated rollers (a crimbo present)

I'm not one for setting any new year resolutions - I just hope that 2013 is better than 2012 was-there was nothing really to talk about for me in 2012 so I'm really hoping that 2013 is full of lots of fun/happiness and general damn good times!

Lots of love to each and everyone of you!
