NOTM: January Edition

NOTM i.e. Nail of the Month!

I’ve decided I’m going to start a ‘nail of the month’ thing on here. I get gel nails once a month and have been since November 2011 - there was an offer at a local salon to me for bio-sculpture gel nails so I decided to give it a try and have been hooked every since!

Anyway, I just thought I’d share my particular choice each month - a little side note here, I only get my gel nails done once a month as it’s a little treat to myself after payday. Most people are shocked with this but bio-sculpture lasts on me pretty damn well-I very rarely get chipping, and if I do it’s usually because I’ve caught it or something like that.

The only thing that is annoying is the re-growth, but hey ho!

Anyway, on to January’s special…

I promise to take better photo's from now on!

Moments That Mattered

Well Happy New Year – I’m never too sure at what point do you stop saying that. I am sick of starting emails in work with ‘Happy New Year’ but when it’s the first time getting in touch since being back it feels rude not to!

Anyway… ramble over – hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and have settled back in to the new working year, I know I’m only just settling in.

I had a lovely break from work over Christmas (nearly 3 weeks in fact) and finished it off with a wonderful trip to Centre Parcs with some of my bestest friends for one’s 30th Birthday – it’s scary that we’ve started the roll of 30th birthdays in our group! I’ve got a few years yet but I’m sure it’ll soon be here!

Anyway, I saw a post over on the lovely Lucy's blog with a competition being run by Lloyds bank to have a look back on 2013 and share your 'Moments That Mattered' which I thought was a great way to start the new blogging year (plus there’s a chance of winning an iPad mini so who’s not on board with that)!

I wouldn’t say 2013 was a particularly fantastic year, I’ve had better but I’ve had worse. Nothing spectacular happened but I did have some pretty awesome times along the way which I wanted to look back on:

2013 started pretty well with one of my oldest friends tying the knot in a pretty wonderful winter wedding – it was so lovely to be a big part of her special day and it really was a fantastic ‘do (even if it was bloody freezing)!

I did my ‘annual’ lambing day which was a few more than just the usual day this year as we’d had quite a bit of snow so I helped out a few more times – I love doing this every year and can’t wait for lambing to start in 2014!

How cute does he look????

April saw 2 little bubba’s arriving in my world – 2 of my closest friends had little girls on the same day, same time and same weight, just 1000’s of miles apart (one was in the UK and the other over in Sydney)!

The summer brought my annual Wimbledon trip which was THE BEST EVER this year with Centre Court tickets, 3 rows from the court, to see Murray reach the final – the atmosphere was just incredible! Even better that the tickets were only £10!

Who doesn't love a bit of photobooth action | Murray in action

Then came Christmas and a wonderful trip down to the Capital with the other half!

2014 looks set to be a very different year with a hopeful move down South, new job (keep your fingers crossed) and a wedding (not mine)!

I hope your 2013 was a good one for you and I hope 2014 is even better still!

Speak soon xx

3 nut butter*

Yup, I know what you're thinking...3 nut butter???? I was recently contacted and asked if I would like to work with the brand Whole Earth to try out their new 3 Nut Butter. Not sure about you, but I'm a massive peanut butter fan - crunchy, never smooth (what IS the point of smooth) and I can honestly say that the Whole Earth brand is most definitely my favourite one, so this opportunity was right up my street.

I was actually rather confused when it arrived as it was in one hell of a big box - I was a little worried I'd been shopping in my sleep once again, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole lot of Whole Earth goodies. Inside the rather large box was my favourite crunchy peanut butter; smooth peanut butter (being used for milkshakes; 3 nut butter and the lightly whipped chocolate spread*.

Now, I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the chocolate spread - you just can't beat nutella when it comes to chocolate spreads but I have used this to make a yummy chocolate cheesecake which worked pretty well.

The 3 nut butter on the other-hand, well this is just pretty much one of the yummiest things I've ever eaten! It's a tasty blend of cashew, peanuts & hazelnuts and spread over a bagel, well, it's pure breakfast heaven!

I think the most exciting part of the box was the easy-squeezy peanut butter sachets - I'm a sucker for anything travel sized (beauty or otherwise) so this weekend, we I headed off to Centre Parcs, these were one of the first things that was packed for our breakfast essentials. Now, 'easy-squeezy' isn't exactly how I'd describe these, but they were very handy indeed and were much easier to take away than a jar of the stuff - I'd definitely buy again if I was off on my jollies!

Anyway, I'm off to make a 3 nut bagel (damn writing this post) - hope I've given you food for thought (see what I did there, hey)! Yup, I'm an idiot! Let me know if you try the 3 nut butter and what you think - hope you like it!

Let me leave you with a question - do you butter your 'bread of choice' before applying the peanut butter or not?
