A puppy catch-up

So it's been a very long while since I last included a puppy update on 'apocketfullofdreams' so I thought I'd use this very lazy Sunday to give you a little catch-up!

On a side note - I'm not sure when I have to stop calling them puppies - they will be 2 this year but I think they will always be referred to as the puppies by me!

Mummy Fudge is doing incredible - after her unexplained spell of paralysis last year, she is doing so much better. She still isn't 100%, but I think she's come as far as she will do! She's able to come on out for a walk with her little babies which makes her very happy indeed! She's like the slinky dog from Toy Story where her back end wobbles from side to side, but it doesn't bother her at all! The vets have said that she's probably as recovered as she's going to be now but she is more than happy with herself so that's all that matters for us! We did have a doggy-sleepover last week where Fudge came to my house for a bit of a break - she's in season at the moment and needed a break from the constant howling from Baxter (as did my mum and dad)!

Baxter is a very friendly, happy little boy - he absolutely adores meeting new people and especially other doggy's just like himself! He's quite an independent dog - of an evening when everyone's settled down, he seems to take himself off in to another room for some 'alone' time. More than anything though, Baxter loves getting up on the sofa and snuggling up - on his own or if you're lucky, you can nab a little snuggle!

Maisy is still as timid as ever - she is literally scared of anything (she's been known to jump when seeing her own reflection before now). She was recently spayed which she wasn't very happy about - she was upset about being left at the vets on her own as she doesn't go anywhere unless the other 2 are with her so that was pretty tough. But, after a day or so of ignoring up and sitting in her basket feeling very sorry for herself, that all went out the window and she was up on the sofa having cuddles.

One happy doggy family!

My mum and dad have a little plaque in their house which say's 'It's the Dogs house - we just pay the mortgage' and it couldn't be more true in their house! The dogs do get away with whatever they want but they give so much back. I am one of those people who believe a family isn't complete without a family dog - we have always had a dog and for our family and I couldn't imagine not going out for a family walk (nearly everyday).

I hope you've all enjoyed catching with my little pupstars - we've just got in from a very windy beach walk and now chilling out in front of the fire - what better way to spend a lazy Sunday!

THE Spring Coat

I know that the weather here in the UK is nowhere near looking like spring (and probably won't be for a good while yet), but I wanted to get my spring coat sorted early this year! I'm sure you've all seen the 'pastel' coloured coats that are all over the place at the moment, and well, I just couldn't resist!

There are so many different variations of them but it was this one from Topshop that I found myself comparing all others too! It was mainly a mint one I was after, I'm not really a pink kind of girl and I find blue just a bit cold - mint is just the perfect pastel!

I promised myself I wouldn't spend £89 on a coat - for a winter coat, I can justify that kind of price, but for some reason, not for any other time of year...crazy I know! But with a cheeky student discount code and gift card that had been sitting unloved in my purse since Christmas, it actually only worked out at £55 (which is exactly the maximum amount I wanted to spend) - a bargain if you ask me and one I couldn't leave behind!

And it's LOVE! It is just BEAUTIFUL - let's just take a moment to admire!

I love the front fastening - they're poppers but I LOVE these stitchings!

I just hope the weather decides to make a miraculous change and become spring now so I can wear it all the time!

NOTM: February

Seeing as February is the month of love (pass me the sick bucket quick), I thought I'd make some kind of effort and went for a beautiful glittery red for this months nail choice and I'm actually rather loving it!

TAG: The blogger made be buy it

Image credited to Fee - thank you!

I saw this post over on Fee's blog and really enjoyed reading it so thought I'd join in on the tag and do my own little version.

1) Who are your most influential bloggers?  Who are the ones that you really rely on for reviews and swatches?
I would have to say the ones I look to most these days are Alix from ICovetthee and Mikhila from Miss
Budget Beauty. There are LOTS of blogs that I read and YT videos that I religiously watch, but it’s got to be these 2 that I really rely on at the moment and get that ‘Yes’ moment when I see a new post/video pop up in my subscription box! I don’t tend to take much notice of swatches because I honestly think these look different on every person but for reviews, I pay attention!

2) Do you buy a product solely as a result from one review from your favourite bloggers, or do you look for more reviews from others?
Yes and no - I probably have done this before but it’s not very often! I don’t tend to step out of my comfort zone too much so I do tend to look around first if I’m buying something new but I think I was definitely guilty of this when the first Naked palette was released.

3) What is your most favourite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?
I would have to agree with Fee here and say the Real Techniques brushes. I wouldn’t say I had too many brushes before buying these but I definitely didn’t NEED them in my collection but you know how it goes….you see it enough times and well it’s just going to happen and boy am I glad it did! I love these brushes and couldn’t recommend them more-everyone I talk to and there’s even a small mention of brushes I throw these down their throat! I would have to also give an honourable mention to the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors - oh my, these are pretty damn nice!

4) What is your least favourite item that you have ever bought as a consequence of blogs?
Lip crayons/Chubby sticks/… whatever you want to call them (they’re all over the bloody place)! Yup, I caved and tried a few out but they’re just not for me. Maybe if my lips were better but I just don’t get on with anything other than gloss really.

5) Name 5 products you have bought recently as a result of blogs
1) Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors
2) NEOM Bath Oils
3) This Works deep sleep pillow spray
4) Paul & Joe Make-up bag
5) Sally Hansen Insta-dri anti-chip top coat

6) Have you ever given into blogger hype?  If so, which hype?
The very first naked palette - I really didn’t get on with it. I literally went out and got it as soon as I could (pretty much like most people I’m sure), but I was just so disappointed with it for what it cost. I’d bought the MUA Heaven & Earth palette not long before and was quite happy using that so the Naked palette was just really unnecessary in my opinion.

7) Have you ever avoided blogger hype?  If so, which hype?
I'm currently trying to avoid the current NARS hype - all the new palettes etc that have been released look so beautiful but I really don't NEED them at all and don't need to spend the money either...but they look so pretty!

8) Is everything you buy based on blogger reviews or are there some items you buy without checking out a review?
Most things these days are based on reviews mainly because it’s where I first hear about new products. I check my bloglovin app every single day so there’s not much out there that gets release without me having seen it before on someone's blog.

I tag anyone that would like to write their own 'The blogger made me buy it' (and if you do, please leave your link below as I really enjoyed reading Fee's)!
